Record Managing EditorA Wright City man is facing multiple criminal charges stemming from his arrest Friday when he allegedly possessed methamphetamine and kicked a police officer in the face.Christopher B. Shive, 44, of the 700 block of Aragorn, was taken into custody around 11:40 a.m. in the area of Clarence Drive and Viola. He attempted to flee on foot after Wright City detectives observed Shive, who had a revoked driver’s license, operating a vehicle, according to the probable cause statement.Shive is charged with three felonies for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, second-degree assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. He also faces misdemeanor charges for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon and driving while revoked.According to the probable cause statement, after Shive ran from officers and fell, he threw a bag containing a substance that was identified as meth and then kicked one off the detectives in the face.After being taken into custody, metal knuckles were located in Shive’s pants pocket and a backpack containing numerous drug paraphernalia items were seized, including multiple smoking devices, a metal spoon and hypodermic needle, police reported.Police said the bag containing the meth weighed approximately 19.2 grams and the amount was likely to be distributed to others and not all for personal use, according to the probable cause statement.Christopher Shive
