A Wright City man lost control of his pickup truck Sunday afternoon and crashed it through the east wall of a building on East Main Street, according to the Warrenton Police Department. James Moore, 72, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup when he suffered a “medical event” which caused him to lose consciousness, Police Chief Greg Houdyshell told The Record. “He ran over one of our streetlights, a fire hydrant, he did some damage to a sign in front of PNC Bank and then went into the building,” Houdyshell said. The exterior portion of the damaged wall was secured with plywood late Sunday afternoon. Moore was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, according to Houdyshell. The building, located at 230 E. Main St., houses the Warrenton office of Avertest, a forensic drug and alcohol testing service provider. No one was in the building at the time of the crash. The incident was reported to Warrenton Police at 12:51 p.m. Since the cause of the crash was medical in nature, Houdyshell said no citations would be issued. He did not have a cost estimate on the damage, either to city or private property.
