On May 29, Joshua Avery, 38, of Wright City, was charged with one count of felony fraudulent use of a credit device and one count of misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit device. Following further investigation from Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies he was charged with eight counts of failure to register as a sex offender on May 30.
Avery was previously convicted of second-degree statutory rape in St. Charles County in 2016, and a count of failure to register in both St. Charles and Warren counties in 2019 and 2024.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Detective Scott Schoenfeld, Avery registered as a sex offender in Warren County on Feb. 3 and May 5, but failed to list an email address, any social media accounts or an employer. He listed a primary and secondary phone number and also did not report a vehicle.
Following his arrest for fraud on May 28, officers found he had used two additional phone numbers, had a Facebook account he did not report, used several alternate email addresses and had worked as a contract mover from March 27 to May 28 without reporting an employer. He also failed to report a vehicle he possessed.
Schoenfeld also reported Avery has previous convictions for tampering with an electronic monitoring device and resisting arrest and at the time of his arrest he was on supervised release from the Missouri Department of Corrections.
An additional warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is to be held without bond.
