The Wright City Board of Aldermen and the Warren County Commissioners will be holding a public meeting on July 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the County Administration Building to discuss the dispute over Indian Head Lodge Drive.
The road, located north of Wright City off of Westwoods Road is a private road and the two entities have had disputes over who is responsible for the maintenance of the road. While the road itself is not within the Wright City limits, it does serve a number of Wright City residents in neighboring subdivisions.
Since its construction, the road has fallen into disrepair with potholes, steep drop-offs on the sides, and a lack of shoulders and sidewalks.
The county has claimed that the onus is on Wright City to repair the road while the city has contended the opposite since it is not technically within their limits.
Wright City board members, especially Ramiz Hakim, have been resistant to allocate city funds to the repair of the road, especially with their already ongoing roads projects.
At a previous meeting, Hakim said that he could not, in good conscience, commit city funds to repair the road when there are roads within the city limits that are in need of repair, especially Roelker Road, which is in the process of being improved and widened as the new Wright City High School nears completion.
The dispute over the road has been a topic of discussion during public comment at recent Wright City board meetings although those citizens have been directed to take their comments to the joint meeting next week.
