Bowling Green — 2-1.Last Year’s Meeting: Bowling Green 55, Wright City 0All it took for the game to get out of hand was one quarter as the Bobcats raced ahead for a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.DeRenzo Blanks finished with 14 carries for 31 yards. Troy Muse caught the only pass of the contest for 16 yards.By halftime Bowling Green had sealed the outcome, ahead 42-0.Outlook: Wright City is on the verge of a breakthrough season with a dangerous offense (460 total yards per game) and a tough-to-break defense (13.7 points allowed per game).Bowling Green lost pivotal playmakers from last season and so far has yet to have a very convincing win.In Week 2, the Bobcats were shut out, 52-0, against Palmyra and posted wins against North Callaway and Louisiana. Both victories were decided by two scores.The Wildcats passing game has been strong, led by senior quarterback Andrew Pfuhl (233 passing yards per game) and top targets Muse (20 catches, 381 yards, four touchdowns) and Tyler Brittain (nine catches, 177 yards, one touchdown).Blanks rushed for a career-high 188 yards last week. The senior running back is one of the top running backs in the area and possesses a lethal dose of power and speed.Several defenders have provided leadership, especially senior linebacker Austin Buchheit (43 tackles). Trey Saddler leads the team with two fumble recoveries and also scored on both sides of the ball last week in a blowout win over Montgomery County.The Bottom Line: Wright City could very well be 3-0 headed into this matchup.Wright City wants to make the point proven that they are back and can contend for a district championship this year.Sargent’s team will look for its high-octane offense to take over early and make for a lead.Wright City Wildcats
