The Wright City and Warrenton girls wrestling teams started their season on Nov. 23 at the Wright City Wildcats Girls Tournament. Four Warren County wrestlers took home first place medals.
Warrenton’s Alexis Ruff and Dakota Lohrmann medaled first in their respective weight classes, while Wright City’s Sadie Sehnert and Caelyn Hanff also took home a first-place finish.
Competing in the 120-pound weight class, Ruff won all five of her matches. In the 125-pound weight class, Lohrmann won all five of her matches as well.
Sehnert competed in the 135-pound weight class and won all five rounds. Competing in the 190-pound weight class, Hanff won all three of her matches.
Warrenton’s Meredith Donovan placed second in the 105-pound weight class after winning one round against Remington Wallis (Hannibal) and falling against Brooke Giboney (North Callaway). Charlee Kersting also medaled second in the 110-pound weight class.
Warrenton’s Paige Palmer and Melanie Guerrero finished seventh in the 120-pound weight class and 130-pound weight class, respectively, while Kylie Vance finished fifth in the 235-pound weight class.
For the Wildcats, Lilliana Wiedemeier placed third overall out of nine girls in the 130-pound weight class, while freshman Rebekah Riggs placed sixth. Jolee Lockhart took home a fifth-place finish in the 140-pound weight class and Lauren Ritter placed third in the 170-pound weight class.
The Warriors will compete next in the Hannibal triangular on Dec. 3 at Hannibal. The Wildcats will host another tournament on Dec. 5.
