After an hour and a half of weather delay, the highly anticipated Warrenton and Wright City football game finally kicked off.
Wright City’s Kayden Allison started off strong with an early touchdown in the first quarter. Quickly after, the Warriors responded and added their own seven points to the scoreboard.
With about 12 seconds left in the second quarter, Wright City’s Ben Rodriguez intercepted the ball at the goal line, stopping Warrenton from a potential touchdown, and carried the ball about 25 yards up the field.
Halftime neared quickly with both fan sections amped up waiting to see who would break the tie.
About nine minutes into the third quarter, Warrenton’s Austin Haas ended the long withstanding tie and ran into the endzone for a touchdown. After the third quarter, the score remained with the Warriors winning 14-7.
In the fourth quarter, Warrenton earned another three points off a field goal with about six minutes left. At the end of the game, the Warriors took home the win with a final score of 17-7.
