Where: Orchard Farm High School. When: Friday, Oct. 9.Time: 7 p.m.Coaches: Orchard Farm — Eric Schroer. Warrenton — Steve McDowell.Records: Orchard Farm — 3-4. Warrenton — 4-3.Last Year’s Meeting: Orchard Farm 28, Warrenton 3.A 27-yard field goal by Dillen Mayfield was all the Warriors could muster on a night where the offense was stagnant. Quarterback Braydan Chmiel and running back Zach Logan combined for 109 yards, as Warrenton was limited to the ground. Chmiel completed 11 of 20 passes for just 60 yards. The Warriors trailed just 7-3 after the first quarter but could not match their host in the remaining three quarters.Outlook: Orchard Farm is coming off consecutive GAC losses against St. Charles and St. Charles West, defeats it has in common with the Warriors. The Eagles’ three wins have come against Wright City, Liberty and Winfield.Orchard Farm will attack with a spread offense, with quarterback DJ Kemp having completed 123 of 206 passes for 1,592 yards and 15 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. Cole Kline has been the leading receiver with 462 yards and three touchdowns on 37 catches. Caleb Grimes has added 400 yards and five touchdowns on 27 receptions. The Eagles have rushed for just 800 yards as a team, with AJ Hibbler taking the most carries with 312 yards on 69 touches.Defensively, Orchard Farm operates out of a 4-4 front with what McDowell calls big linemen and defensive ends that present a formidable pass rush.Warrenton has varied its offense according to the opponent, limiting its game plan to just four passes last week against Winfield. However, Chmiel has completed 82 of 127 passes for 930 yards and 10 touchdowns to eight interceptions through all seven games. Hunter Russell has been his favorite target, with 493 yards on 25 catches, but Jack Darity and Jacob Abel have seen a recent increase in the numbers of balls thrown their way.Abel has also been a leader on defense, with a team-best 70 tackles. It will be interesting to see how Warrenton approaches this game offensively with leading rusher Cameron Richardson sidelined with a broken arm incurred last Friday. To this point he was well ahead of his teammates with 541 yards on 88 carries.Bottom Line: McDowell says his team’s goal is to control the line of scrimmage and establish a running game. That may be particularly challenging with Richardson out an undetermined amount of weeks. It is expected that senior James Biship and sophomore Trey Taylor will be counted on in the ground game. The Warriors have begun to turn to several sophomores on both sides of the ball and saw an increased contribution from Brandon Molinari last week.—By Derrick Forsythe, Record Staff WriterWarrenton Warriors
