Dozens of employees in the Warren County R-III School District will see their hourly pay increase beginning in January.
The school board voted 6-1 to approve the proposal to increase the minimum hourly wage to $13.75, with Jeff Schneider opposed.
Missouri voters approved increasing the minimum wage to $13.75 per hour beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The ballot measure was known as Proposition A and was approved statewide in the November election.
School districts are not required to pay minimum wage, officials said. However, R-III noted there were 23 employees below that threshold and opted to raise their wages.
The district estimates the cost will be $7,500 for the remainder of this fiscal year ending in June 30, 2025.
