A Warren County Sheriff’s Department deputy will assist the Washington Police Department at the Washington Town and Country Fair. The Washington City Council approved the appointment of 12 special police officers to work at the Washington Town and Country Fair, including Warren County deputy Kyle Lepper.Unlike in years past, all the officers do not come from the same department. The officers from Osage County, who worked previous fairs, were unavailable. To fill the spots needed in order to maintain an adequate number of officers on the fairgrounds, officers from surrounding agencies will be brought in. Other officers assisting at the Fair are Franklin County Sheriff’s Department deputies Darrell Floyd, Raoul Williams, Andrew Rosenkoetter, Justin Bryan and Justin Lintermoot; Chris Flora, a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department; Sullivan Police Chris Neace, Jack Alien and Joshua Lovern; Resse Tabarly, an officer with the Gerald Police Department; and James Brinmingham, an officer with the New Haven Police Department. The special officers will be paid a rate of $17 an hour. The officers will be working Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Fair during the peak hours of 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.Washington Police Capt. Jim Armstrong said all the officers will be dressed the same this year. At prior fairs, the special officers had worn their regular uniforms. With officers from six different departments, plus Washington officers, Armstrong said everyone will wear Washington Police polo shirts to avoid any confusion.
