"I wanted to come in and see if this store is as nice as the one in Wentzville," said Alice, a Warrenton resident who said she makes a couple of trips a week to the Wentzville store. "It is. It's got everything the other store has." At 10 a.m. a number of city officials and Warrenton Chamber of Commerce board members gathered for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Warrenton Mayor Greg Costello said the new Walgreens is a long-awaited addition to the growing city. "We're delighted to have a Walgreens now in Warrenton," Costello said. "We believe this store will have a very big impact in our city. I think it's going to do extremely well." The mayor said the timing of the store's opening may even help area residents cut down on the amount of gas they used previously in visiting pharmacies in other cities. Store officials reported brisk business throughout the entire opening weekend. "We were very busy," said store manager Erika Rada. "We had quite a few prescription transfers, so our pharmacy staff was very busy, both Friday and Saturday, assisting new patients." Walgreens officials at the company headquarters in Deerfield, Ill., said the store's volume of business during the opening weekend was very encouraging. "We opened at 7 a.m. Friday and it was busy from the start," said spokesperson Carol Hively. "There was great interest in the photofinishing department, with most of those customers using the store's digital services." Hively added customers have the ability to share photos with family and friends across the country when they upload digital pictures from their home computer for pickup at any Walgreens nationwide. The 14,800-square-foot store's amenities include a complete photo lab and a two-lane drive-through pharmacy. The store is open seven days a week from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday hours are from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and the pharmacy operates from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.
