Two candidates are running for Warren County public administrator in next Tuesday’s election. They are Melissa Dempsey, Republican, and Lisa Renee Waltrip, Libertarian.Following are profiles and comments from the candidates:Dempsey Dempsey, a Warren County native and lifelong county resident, retired from the 12th Circuit Juvenile Office after more than 25 years of service.Through that position, Dempsey said she has many years of experience in working with judges and other court personnel, as well as a broad knowledge of public and private community health service agencies for the county.She also has worked with past public administrators.“I bring experience and dedication, which means professionalism and compassion for the families of Warren County,” she said. “I will work to make a difference in the lives of those unable to do so for (themselves) and safeguard their best interests.”Dempsey is married to Jack Dempsey. The couple have three daughters.WaltripWaltrip, of Warrenton, is a unit leader at Harmony Clubhouse, which is supported through Crider Health Center. She is a volunteer with Winter Outreach, an organization that provides items of warmth and transportation to shelters for individuals who do not have permanent housing. She also has volunteered with Special Olympics of Missouri and Karen House, a shelter for women and children. As an elected member of the Board of Education for Warren County R-3 School District, Waltrip advocated for students with special needs, specifically the reading curriculum, and for the safety and education of all children in the school district.If elected, “I will uphold the dignity and rights of all clients while acting as a guardian. I will coordinate care for individuals’ physical and mental health, housing, finances, represent the interests of individuals and improve their quality of life. I will respect the clients’ will to make decisions, only preventing the clients from making decisions that would cause harm. In cases of a deceased client, I will collaborate with the coroner and protect the assets and property, arranging for proper burial and pay the deceased’s bills and taxes.”Waltrip has three sons ages 23, 18 and 14. She is married to Ross M. Waltrip.
