Leaders of the Scenic Regional Library system gathered with local government officials Saturday to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new library branch in Wright City. The 7,800-square-foot building will include a meeting room for up to 75 people, child and teen areas, and study rooms, system Director Steve Campbell said.“We are very excited to bring a second branch to Warren County,” he said. “We’re even more excited to have that branch in Wright City, a rapidly growing community in our district.”The library will be built adjacent to Wright City West Elementary School on Wildcat Drive. The addition to the library district will be paid for by a property tax increase approved by voters in 2014. The library in Warrenton also will be expanded using those funds.Michelle Heiliger, a member of the Scenic Regional Library Foundation Board of Directors, said the library will be vital to the community and schools.“One of my favorite quotes is ‘A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people,’ ” Heiliger said. The strategic location of the library close to multiple schools is a win for the students, and the facility will offer computer and internet access to anyone who doesn’t have those resources, Heiliger said.State Rep. Bryan Spencer and Warren County Commissioner Dan Hampson also spoke at the groundbreaking, describing the value of reading for self-education and financial success.
