Three Warriors Named All-GAC

With a Top-10 finish during last Wednesday’s GAC Tournament, T.J. Lafaver became an all-conference selection in a third different sport this school year. The Warrenton senior added a golf accolade to his previous recognition for standout performances in basketball and football. “I’m glad I was able to do well this season and make a name for myself,” said Lafaver. “I think it shows that I’m a well-rounded athlete.” Lafaver was one of three Warriors to earn all-conference honors. “It was great to get three guys into the Top 10,” said Coach Rich Barton. “I like how in the GAC it rewards the whole season and not just one day. You’ve got to perform well each time out.” Lafaver finished sixth in the conference standings with 29 points, while shooting an 86 in the tournament. Junior Ethan Luecke tied for second in the GAC points race with 55, falling only behind St. Charles West’s Davis Soderberg. Luecke recorded the Warriors’ lowest score of the day with an 81. “He’s been a consistent competitor for us,” said Barton, of the three-time All-GAC golfer. Junior Chase Nelson was seventh with 28 points, while carding a 93 during Wednesday’s round. “Chase wasn’t able to get any points from the tournament, but his play throughout the season helped him still become an all-conference contender,” said Barton. Competing on Wednesday but missing the cut for all-conference were junior Luke Hawley with an 89 and junior Curtis Bauer with a 90. St. Charles West won the team title by shooting a 324. Warrenton also had three junior varsity players earn all-GAC honors, based on how they shot during Wednesday’s round. Zac Ragan shot a 95 to finish sixth, while Jesse Washburn carded a 98 to place eighth. John Peper shot a 101 to finish among the Top 10.

Warrenton junior Ethan Luecke earned first team All-GAC honors, finishing second in the conference point standings this season.
