KWRE/KFAV Radio in Warrenton is proud to announce that Program/ Music Director and Morning Show host Mike Thomas has been nominated for the Country Radio Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn.The Country Radio Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of those individuals who have made significant contributions to the radio industry over a 20-year period, 15 of which must be in the country format. The Country Radio Hall of Fame was founded in 1974 to recognize outstanding individuals working in the broadcasting industry who are promoting the country radio format.Thomas has been an employee of KWRE and KFAV since October 1986. He was the afternoon drive on host on KWRE from 1986 to 1996 and has served as host of the “Westplex Morning Brew” on KFAV since July 1996, making it the longest-running country morning show in the St. Louis market. In addition, he has garnered a number of awards as program/music director and was recently notified that he has been nominated for New Music Weekly Program Director of the year, an award he has won four other times.One of Thomas’ highest honors came in 2007 when he received the Music Row Country Breakout Reporter of the Year award in Nashville.The 2015 Hall of Fame inductees will be announced at the 2015 Country Radio Seminar, which takes place Feb. 25-27 in Nashville. Those not inducted this year will have their name appear on the Hall of Fame ballot in subsequent years. The Hall of Fame Induction dinner and awards ceremony will take place on June 24.Thomas says “the old cliché of just being nominated certainly applies to this honor.” He calls it “the crowning achievement for a career in country radio. To be inducted and be a part of an institution that includes country radio legends such as Ralph Emery and Grant Turner would be amazing.”Mike Thomas
