A teen faces felony charges after police identified him as a suspect in a September 2017 burglary that saw a firearm and thousands of dollars in jewelry taken from a Wright City home.Kyle I. Bruning, 18, Wright City, is charged with second-degree burglary and stealing a firearm. The charges are Class D felonies.Wright City police began investigating the burglary Sept. 6, 2017, after being contacted by the victim at a home on Midland Drive, according to a police report. The victim reported that a black .38-caliber revolver and $4,200 worth of jewelry were stolen from the residence.On Sept. 18, 2017, police spoke with a second juvenile who alleged that Bruning had offered to sell him a gun and sent him a photo of it using the Snapchat phone app. The juvenile gave police a gun matching the description and serial number of the stolen revolver.Police secured a search warrant for Bruning’s Snapchat account, which police said contained a photo of the firearm in a bookbag.An investigator spoke to Bruning on July 12, 2018. The officer showed him the photo of the gun in the bookbag, after which he allegedly admitted to stealing it. However, Bruning denied taking the jewelry that had been reported stolen at the same time.Bruning reportedly told police he knew where the revolver had been stored because the victim’s son had showed it to him while at the victim’s residence.Crime
