The respective boards in Warrenton and Wright City approved tax rates for 2009 at recent meetings. Public hearings were held at the start of each board meeting - last Thursday in Wright City and on Tuesday in Warrenton. Warrenton The tax rate in Warrenton will be slightly higher compared to 2008 and 2007 when the rate was the same. Aldermen approved an ordinance setting the tax rate at 42.17 cents for every $100 of assessed valuation. The tax rate the previous two years was 40.15 cents. The 2009 tax rate is broken down as follows: 26.48 cents for the general fund and 15.69 cents for the park fund. The amount of property tax revenue budgeted for 2009 is $428,611. The assessed valuation of real estate property dropped slightly to $84,465,901 from $84,515,704 in 2008. Assessed value of personal property in 2009 is $18,622,622 compared to $22,274,706 a year ago. Wright City The tax rate for residents in Wright City will decrease slightly from 2008. The board unanimously approved a tax rate of 78.65 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for real estate and personal property. The tax levy in 2008 was 81.71 cents. The 2009 tax rates include a levy of 46.40 cents for the general fund, 8.63 cents for the park fund, 17.23 cents for the street light fund and 6.39 cents for the debt service fund. The tax rate is expected to generate $362,500 in revenue. The city is expecting to bring in $39,588,880 in real estate taxes and $6,479,010 in personal property taxes in 2009. Both figures are slightly more than in 2008.
