Record Managing EditorOrganizers of an upcoming motorcycle benefit ride are looking for riders and donors to support SSM Cardinal Glennon.Hosted by the Glory Riders Motorcycle Ministry, the fundraising event will be held Saturday, June 20. Motorcycles will depart from Chariots of Fire Customs in Troy at 10 a.m., travel to Cardinal Glennon and return to Troy. The roundtrip will cover approximately 120 miles. A donation is requested for participants. All donations are tax-deductible.This is the first fundraising event for the Glory Riders, Keith Robertson said. The group formed in the past year and includes residents of Warren and Lincoln counties.“Besides having the desire and joy to ride motorcycles, we have the ability to take God into other places where the church doesn’t reach,” said Robertson, of Warrenton. “Our purpose is to share the word and help as much as we can. We expect to grow and cover a larger area.”Following the benefit ride, an after-party featuring food and refreshments will be held between 3-6 p.m. at Chariots of Fire, located at 216 N. Lincoln Drive. A bike show will follow along with music from the classic rock band, NeXchapter, organizers said. All proceeds will benefit The Costas Center at Cardinal Glennon, a state-of-the-art treatment center for children living with cancer and blood-related diseases. The center consists of a 16-bed inpatient unit, a four-bed bone marrow transplant unit and a day hospital, which provides a setting for children receiving treatments such as chemotherapy, transfusions and other drug treatments. So far, close to $2,000 has been raised, according to Robertson.“Helping kids is in our heart,” said Robertson, who expects somewhere between 50 to 75 motorcyclists to participate. “Hopefully we get an influx of people,” Robertson said. For information, call 636-233-6878 or 573-795-2187.Cardinal Glennon
