A St. Peters man is facing felony charges in Warren County after allegedly headbutting a woman in the face and choking her, according to online court records.

Matthew Potter was charged Tuesday, Nov. 3, with felony second-degree domestic assault and felony third-degree domestic assault following an incident the previous day.

Potter and the victim were arguing while eating dinner when he headbutted her in the face, which left a bruise on her forehead and gave her a black eye, according to a probable cause statement. He then allegedly threw the woman to the ground and choked her until she could no longer breathe.

Potter, born in 1984, was initially being held without bond at the Warren County Jail. His bond was later reduced to $1,000, however, and he has since posted bond and been released.
