A St. Louis man could get up to five years in prison on charges of second-degree domestic assault.Warrenton Police Detective Brandon Weber arrested Zlatko Nasufovic, 33, of St. Louis, following an alleged assault on Nasufovic’s girlfriend.According to Weber’s probable cause statement, police arrived at the home of the girlfriend, in the 600 block of Roosevelt Avenue, to see the female standing outside of her home. While speaking with the victim, an officer noticed blood coming from her nose. She would later tell police her boyfriend, identified as Nasufovic, punched her several times in the face and threatened to kill her. Once he fell asleep, fearful for her own safety, she called 911.Local emergency medical personnel checked on the victim. The victim later confirmed she suffered a broken nose. Officers eventually entered the home to find Nasufovic asleep in the master bedroom. On the floor, near the bed, lay a pillowcase covered in blood as well as several drops of blood on the bedsheets. Nasufovic was also wearing a white T-shirt at the time, which officers also noticed was covered in dried blood. Officers also noticed dried blood on Nasufovic’s left hand.Prior to the June 23 encounter, Nasufovic had no prior violent criminal history. He did serve six months in a St. Louis County Jail for theft charges.The assault charge carries a sentence of up to five years in prison, or one year in jail, and up to a $5,000 fine. He is currently in custody with a $10,000 bond.Domestic assault
