Slow traffic is cause of three vehicle crashes on interstate

Three crashes on Interstate 70 in Warren County have been related to slowed or stopped vehicles, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.In a crash between two pickup trucks at about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, the driver of a GMC Sonoma, Abigail C. Lexa, 19, Wright City, reportedly swerved to avoid slowing traffic in the westbound lanes between Wright City and Foristell. In doing so, the Lexa vehicle reportedly overturned after striking a trailer being towed by Patrick C. Kennedy, 66, Lees Summit.Lexa had only minor injuries and was examined by a medic at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt. Kennedy was not injured, the patrol said.On Friday, May 12, a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by David A. Twente, 64, Napoleon, stopped for traffic at 4 p.m. on eastbound I-70 in Wright City. He reportedly was hit by a Chevy Colorado pickup driven by Pedro Lozano, 26, La Vergne, Tenn. Twente was uninjured, but Lozano was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis with minor injuries, and his truck had extensive damage,the patrol said.Later that Friday, also in Wright City, two cars stopped on eastbound I-70 were involved in a crash with a third car that was attempting to change lanes and go around them, according to the patrol.The Chevy Equinox SUV driven by Stephanie R. Uhls, 25, O’Fallon, had minor damage when it collided with the two other vehicles, as did the vehicle at the front, a Mazda 3 compact car driven by James A. Johnson, 19, Florissant.The third vehicle, a Pontiac Vibe driven by Juanita L. Schroeder, 75, Wright City, had extensive damage and was towed from the scene. Johnson had minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
