Six Warrenton wrestlers recently placed in the top three of their respective weight classes this past weekend at the Liberty Invite. On the boys team, Zayden Teson and Manny McCauley walked away with first-place finishes.
McCauley not only garnered his top finish in the 126-pound weight class, but achieved his 100th career win after defeating Sullivan’s Carter Blankenship in the championship round. He also earned the tournament’s “Outstanding Wrestler” award. McCauley topped 20 wrestlers and won all six of his matches.
Teson dominated in the 113-pound weight class, defeating five opponents. 138-pounder Noah Lohrmann had a third-place finish after winning by major decision (15-5) over Palmyra’s Tyler Spicknall. Lohr-mann won four of his matches and lost one.
On the girls team, Alexis Ruff, Dakota Lohrmann and Allison Vacek earned a third-place finish. Ruff, who competed at 120 pounds, defeated Holt’s JoJo Watkins by fall in the third-place match. She placed above 14 girls.
Competing in the 125 class with 24 wrestlers, Lohrmann won her third-place match over Ritenour’s Krisean Buchana. Vacek defeated Pattonville’s Samantha Mokwa to medal third in the 155 class.
Overall, the girls team took home a 15th place finish and the boys placed seventh.
