Wright City junior wrestler Sadie Sehnert is having a dominant start to her season after placing first for the fourth time in a row at the Liberty Invite on Dec. 13.

Sehnert holds an overall 20-0 record so far.

Sehnert’s first-place finish was cemented after defeating Fort Zumwalt East’s Lana Luu in three rounds in the 135-pound class. She won five matches, including her first match in 36 seconds.

Sehnert was not the only Wildcat to find success over the weekend. In the 190 class, Caelyn Hanff placed second after suffering her first loss of the season to St. Charles West’s Lexington Johnson in the championship round. Hanff ended the tournament with four wins and one loss.

Kali Jensen and Jolee Lockhart also found success and placed fifth in their respective weight classes. Jensen won her first two matches in the 120 class but then fell to Warrenton’s Alexis Ruff. She then defeated two more opponents to medal fifth. Lockhart also posted a 4-1 record in the 140 class.

Competing in the 130 class, Lilliana Wiedemeier placed seventh after beating Liberty’s Layla Childers. Lauren Ritter finished 10th in the 155 class.

Overall, the girls team placed sixth out of 25 teams and the boys team placed 23rd out of 30 teams.

Lane Graves was the only Wildcat to medal after placing fourth in the 144 class. Graves won two matches and lost two. In the third-place match, he fell to Fulton’s Andrew Wiesner.

Competing in the 215 class, Quincy Rice placed eighth. Rice won two matches and lost two after falling to Fort Madison’s Cliff Stewart.

In addition, Ayden Dile competed in the 285 class. Dile won his first match but dropped his remaining two. In the 132 class, Joseph Beitel also won two and lost two matches.

The girls will compete next at Fort Zumwalt East on Dec. 20. The boys will compete at Brentwood on Dec. 21.
