The Wright City Board of Aldermen has named a mayor to replace David Heiliger, who died unexpectedly July 6.Dan Rowden, former president of the board of aldermen, will serve as mayor until municipal elections are held next April. Rowden has already been serving as the acting mayor, prior to a unanimous vote from Wright City’s three other aldermen July 27 to have him keep the seat.Heiliger’s passing left city leaders shaken, but they have expressed resolve to continue with several city projects.“David will be dearly missed,” Rowden said through tears during an emotional meeting a week after the mayor’s passing.Despite the difficulty of losing Heiliger, Rowden and other city leaders have echoed the sentiment that Heiliger would want them to pull together and work for the city.A new alderman to take Rowden’s seat will likely be nominated at the board’s next meeting Aug. 10, City Clerk Karen Girondo said. That person will have to live in Ward 1 of Wright City. Some names have been mentioned, but officials will have to deliberate and contact potential nominees, Girondo said.A new board of aldermen president most likely will be selected at the next city meeting as well.Dan Rowden
