March 6 is the deadline for Warren County residents to register to vote in the April 2 elections.Several tax initiatives and a number of city and emergency service representatives will be decided by the upcoming vote in April.Warren County residents who are not registered voters can register at the Warren County Clerk’s Office in the county administration building, 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton.As of June 2017, Missouri law requires identification in order to vote. Acceptable forms of identification include driver license or other state-issued ID, passport, military ID, or certain bills, paychecks or other documents that confirm the voter’s name and address.For a full list of acceptable identification, contact the Warren County Clerk’s Office at 636-456-3331.Anyone registered to vote who does not have identification can still vote a provisional ballot. The vote will be counted if the signature on the provisional ballot matches the voter’s signature in the state voter registry, or if the voter returns to the polling place with an acceptable ID.Registered voters who have changed their address must also update their registration. More information on voter registration is available by contacting the county clerk’s office.Anyone who wants a photo ID but doesn’t have one can receive assistance from the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office to obtain one non-driver ID for free. Call the ShowIt2Vote hotline toll free at 866-868-3245, or email ShowIt2Vote@sos.mo.gov for help.Absentee ballotsAbsentee ballots may be cast in the office of the county clerk for the April 2 election.Registered voters who will be absent from the county, or otherwise unable to vote April 2 because of qualifying employment, religious or other reasons, may cast absentee ballots in the county clerk’s office.Absentee ballots may be cast from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until March 29, and may also be cast from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 30.Absentee ballots will be mailed upon written request received no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. When requesting an absentee ballot by mail, the request must be in writing and signed, and must state your name, registered address, reason for requesting an absentee ballot, and the address for the ballot to be mailed.Anyone who registered to vote by mail and is voting for the first time must send a photocopy of a driver license, non-driver license, passport or military ID, along with the request for an absentee ballot.More information on absentee ballots may be obtained by calling the county clerk’s office at 636-456-3331.Vote
