By Derrick ForsytheRecord Staff WriterThe Warren County R-III School District has filled multiple administrative roles. The board announced the hiring of two new assistant superintendents, both graduates of Warrenton High School, during its monthly meeting June 18.Jill Schowe, former principal at Rebecca Boone Elementary, was promoted to the role of assistant superintendent of curriculum and assessment.“I wanted to move to the next level in our school system where I could continue making positive differences for the children in our community,” said Schowe.Aaron Jones, previously an administrator in the Union School District, will serve as assistant superintendent of personnel services.“We’re excited about the addition of these two and what they can bring to the district,” said Superintendent Dr. Jim Chandler. “We’re looking forward to having their expertise and input to keep working toward the gains we’ve had.”Schowe is filling a newly created role, while Jones will take over the position once held by Gregg Klinginsmith, who is leaving for a similar position in the Wentzville School District.Schowe has spent her entire 22-year career in education in the R-III district, including 20 years at Rebecca Boone Elementary. A 1980 graduate of Warrenton High School, she began as a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher. She then spent four years as assistant principal, including two years at Daniel Boone Elementary, before serving as principal at Rebecca Boone Elementary for the last six years.“I want to continue to make our district better at having positive school culture, position community relationships and for people to be proud to send their kids to school here,” said Schowe.During her time as an administrator at Rebecca Boone Elementary, she has witnessed the facility expand from a fourth- and fifth-grade center to a kindergarten through fifth-grade building.Additionally, Schowe was instrumental in the success of the Trading Post, a store in the school that allows students to purchase essential items through points earned from attendance or positive behavior.“I think we were really able to create a positive environment for the teachers, students and their families,” she said.Dr. Cheri Oliver has been promoted from assistant principal to replace Schowe. Oliver has been in the district for two years.“We’re looking forward to the efforts she’s going to bring to Rebecca Boone and expanding on great things Jill had already done,” said Chandler.Jones has spent the past two years as assistant superintendent at Union, previously serving seven years as a principal at Union Elementary School.Earlier in his career, he taught middle school science in the Lexington and Independence school districts in western Missouri.“I had the chance to work on the curriculum side at Union, so the opportunity to be more on the personnel side sparked my interest,” said Jones.A 1989 graduate of Warrenton High School, Jones is eager to return to his roots, where much of his family still resides.“The opportunity wasn’t always quite right when they did have an opening in the past, and everything kind of fell into place this time,” said Jones. “I’m excited to get started and continue honoring the traditions that are already here.”The annual salary for both Schowe and Jones will be $105,700. They officially began their duties July 1.Also taking over a new administrative role in the district is Kenneth Holstine, who was hired in May to replace Michael Franklin as assistant principal at Warrenton High School.Holstine spent the past four years as principal at Palmyra High School in Northeast Missouri.
