A Warrenton man was charged with a felony for allegedly striking a child on two occasions.Frank L. Sutton, 45, is charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a Class D felony.Warrenton police were contacted April 13 for a report of child abuse alleged to have occurred several days prior. The reporting party told police Sutton had smacked a 5-year-old child in the back, and then the next day struck the child in the chest and across the face with the back of his hand.The child confirmed the report to police, authorities said.Sutton was contacted by police at his residence on the 400 block of Steinhagen. He told police the child had been screaming and yelling in the living room, so he struck the child in the butt and lower back. Police allege that Sutton struck the child again the following day, in the mouth with an open backhand, because the victim was screaming. Sutton allegedly caused a laceration on his upper lip.Police saw several small red marks on the child’s lower back and a cut on the left side of his upper lip.Sutton was taken to the Warren County Jail April 24. He is free on a $5,000 bond and has an arraignment set for May 2 in Warren County Circuit Court.Crime
