What: Class 4 state quarterfinals

Scouting Warrenton: This is the first appearance in the state quarterfinals for the Warriors since advancing to the program’s first state championship game in 2010, an eventual 56-7 loss to perennial state power Webb City. Warrenton averages 38.7 points per game and has allowed just 13.6 points per game. Senior running back Austin Haas has rushed for 2,148 yards on 244 carries and is among the leaders in the St. Louis area with 30 touchdowns. Brandon Johnson, first-year starter at quarterback, has completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,751 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. Senior linebacker Kadin Stroer leads the defense with 116 tackles, while Javon Jones and Cole Meyer are tied for second with 76 stops. Jake Mincher and Jones are tied for the team lead with nine sacks, while Taylor Anderson and Treyvian Guthrie have eight apiece. Austin White has a team-high four interceptions.
Scouting West Plains: This season marks the eighth consecutive year West Plains, which enters Saturday’s game on a five-winning streak, has posted a winning record. Last year the Zizzers went 6-5. Their last losing season was a 5-6 campaign in 2016. Besides this year, the program has captured district championships in 2018 (12-1), 2020 (10-2), 2021 (10-2) and 2022 (9-4). West Plains is averaging 31 points per game and has allowed 23 points per game.
