ST. LOUIS (AP) One of the St. Louis area's largest providers of outpatient specialty medical services for the poor is laying off more than half its staff and reducing services.Officials with St. Louis ConnectCare announced Wednesday that 88 employees will be laid off in the next 60 days. Eleven other employees were laid off last week.CEO Melody Eskridge told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/186NMYq ) some doctors will no longer provide services to ConnectCare patients at its center.Eskridge says the company will not offer outpatient specialty appointments but will continue its urgent care center, radiology services and community health visits. She says the changes came partly because of federal and state budget cuts for health care for the uninsured, and the Missouri Legislature's decision not to expand the state's Medicaid program.St. Louis ConnectCare
