Obituaries for Thursday, January 21, 2010 Edition Vera A. A. Scott 1921-2010 Vera Alma Amanda Scott, 88, Jonesburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Scott was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Matson, the daughter of Eugene Diederich and wife Helen, nee Hilker. On June 28, 1947, in New Melle, she was united in marriage to Elvin Leroy "Roy" Scott. They were married 62 years. Mrs. Scott was a homemaker. She was a retired cook at the Warren County R-III School District. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Quilters and Ladies Aide also at the church in Warrenton. She had volunteered at the gift shop at the Crossroads Hospital in Wentzville for years. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Norma Scott and Jean Fuerhman. She is survived by her husband Elvin "Roy" Scott, Jonesburg; one daughter, Sharon Brackney, Des Peres; one brother, Kenneth Diederich, Defiance; two grandsons, Joe Brackney (Beth) and Jason Brackney; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Warrenton. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, New Melle. Memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, the Crider Center or American Heart Association in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Hazel Josephine Meyer 1917-2010 Hazel Josephine Meyer, 92, Warrenton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Meyer was born July 30, 1917, in St. Louis County, the daughter of Otto Pallman and wife Caroline, nee Miller. On Nov. 27, 1941, in Normandy, she was united in marriage to Ambrose Bernard Meyer. They were married 55 years. Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening and playing bingo. Her last seven years were spent living at Whispering Pines. She enjoyed everyone who worked and lived there. She liked all of the attention that the staff gave her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 18, 1997, two daughters, Rose Marie Jones and Carolyn C. Saunders, two brothers, Charles and Otto, and four sisters, Katherine, Sr. Rose Anita, Clara and Rose. Mrs. Meyer is survived by one son-in-law, Ron Jones, Warrenton; three brothers-in-law, John Pitman, Montgomery City, Francis Meyer and wife Betty, and Walter Meyer and wife Janet, all of Benton City; six grandchildren, Shannon (Richard) Dothage, Aaron (Cara) Jones, Jennifer (Nicholas) Kleekamp; Chad Trembley, Jeremy Trembley and friend Kayla Richardson, and Dena Saunders; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Aarica, Cole, Sophie, Caden, Ivy and De'Keira; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, with a memorial service following. The family is being served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Charles G. Leesmann 1937-2010 Charles G. "PeeWee" Leesmann, 72, Augusta, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home. Mr. Leesmann was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Marthasville, the son of Edwin Lees-mann and wife Flora, nee Berg. Mr. Lees-mann served his country in the U.S. Army for six years, two of them in Korea. He was a mechanic at Augusta Garage from 1952-1987 and a mechanic at St. Louis County Water Company from 1987-1997. He was a deer hunter and outdoorsman, a horseshoe player, a trapshooter and umpired slow-pitch softball in Augusta for many years. In his early years he was an avid boater and water skier. Mr. Leesmann was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Edwin Leesmann Jr., Harold Leesmann and Floyd Leesmann. He is survived by his wife, Irene Leesmann, nee Bakameyer, Augusta; one son, Christopher (Michelle) Leesmann, Marthasville; one daughter, Allison (Roger) Miller, Augusta; two brothers, Lester (Paula) Leesmann, Warrenton, and Richard (Patricia) Leesmann, St. Charles; four sisters, Jeanette Fischer, Augusta, Elaine (Arlen) Kampmann, Union, Delores (George) Shipley, Jefferson City, and Carol (Mel) Dixon, Florida state; five grandchildren, Cortney and Tyler Miller, Kirsten and Ethan Leesmann and Dacie Nevills; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 18, at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Augusta. Burial was in Augusta City Cemetery. Couture 1924-2010 Robert Douglas Couture, 85, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home. Mr. Couture was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Rice Lake, Wis., the son of Wilfred Couture and wife Laura, nee Olson. On April 17, 1997, in Bridgeton, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Kerr. Mr. Couture served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of AFEE, an exclusive military organization, the VFW Post 5077 in O'Fallon, third degree of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion Post 122 of Warrenton and was Post Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 2662, Warrenton. Mr. Couture was a terminal manager for Consolidated Freight Line in St. Louis. He was a member of College United Methodist Church, Warrenton. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Priscilla. Mr. Couture is survived by his wife Betty Couture, Warrenton; two daughters, Sheri Clayton and husband Gary, and Peggy Lou Black and husband Michael, all of St. Charles; two stepsons, Douglas H. Reece and wife Gayle, Kansas City, and Richard D. Reece and wife Donna, St. Peters; one sister, Fran Seivers, Rice Lake, Wis.; three grandchildren, Aaron, Jennifer and Aimee; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. until noon at College United Methodist Church, Warrenton, with memorial services following. Burial to be private. Mary Lou Prenger 1948-2010 Mary Lou Prenger, 61, Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Prenger was born Dec. 31, 1948, in Warrenton, the daughter of Robert J. Henderson and wife Eloise R., nee Barton. On May 30, 1968, in Jefferson City, she was united in marriage to Darrell D. Prenger. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Mrs. Prenger graduated from Warrenton High School and the Capital Business College in Jefferson City. She was employed with the Missouri Department of Revenue for several years. Later she was employed as an accountant with the Jefferson City Housing Authority. Mrs. Prenger loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her pets. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Henderson, and her father-in-law, James R. Prenger. Mrs. Prenger is survived by her husband, Darrell, Jefferson City; one son, Robert S. Prenger, Jefferson City; two daughters, Laura L. Rant and husband Eric, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Amy Lynn Prenger, Jefferson City; her mother, Eloise R. Henderson, Jefferson City; her mother-in-law, Mary C. Prenger, Jefferson City; two brothers, Floyd R. Henderson, Jefferson City, and Rick J. Henderson, Texas state; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rant, Megan Rant and Dylan Rant; three brothers-in-law, James W. Prenger and wife Barbara, Michael K. Prenger and wife Mary Esther, and Mark A. Prenger and wife Kim, all of Jefferson City; other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 16, at St. Peter Church with Monsignor Donald Lammers officiating. Entombment was in the mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery, Jefferson City. Memorials to National Sclerosis Society or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter are preferred. The family was served by Freeman Mortuary, Jefferson City. Funeral services for Lorna E. Bognar, 77, Moscow Mills, were held Saturday, Jan. 16, at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Flint Hill. Mrs. Bognar died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab, Troy. She is survived by her husband, John Bognar; one son, John Bognar II; two daughters, Rebecca (James) Wilhite, and Michele (Fritz) Dreyer; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Funeral services for Helen Violet Barger, 91, Foristell, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at First Baptist Church, Wright City. Mrs. Barger died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at her home. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Barger; two daughters, Lynnette Barger and Janell Barger; other relatives and many friends. The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Jean A. Petri, 83, Marthasville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. No funeral services are planned. She is survived by one son, Thomas (Sherry) Burns III; one daughter, Shirley (Tom) Hase; one stepdaughter, Liz (Chuck) Zalar; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
