Obituaries for Thursday, December 24 Edition LaVern G. Wegener 1930-2009 LaVern George Wegener, 79, Lakewood, Colo., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Rose Medical Center, Denver, Colo. Mr. Wegener was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Warrenton, the son of Edward Henry Wegener and wife Melinda Wilhelmina, nee Winter. He grew up on a farm near Bellflower where he attended Bellflower Methodist Church and went to the Shelton School, a one-room country schoolhouse. Mr. Wegener graduated from Bellflower High School. In his early 20s, Mr. Wegener traveled to Denver with his cousin, Melvin Werges, where both families reside to this day. He attended Emmanuel Methodist Church were he met his wife, Arline Klein, a college girl from the National College of Christian Workers in Kansas City. They were married on June 5, 1955. He loved mechanical things, rebuilding radios, clocks and watches. It was a love that would eventually lead to his wiring the family farmhouse for electricity and which would ultimately lead to a 35-year career with Denver's Public Service Company of Colorado (now Xcel Energy). Mr. and Mrs. Wegener's endless desire to minister was manifested in their involvement with Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree ministries to incarcerated persons and their families. Mr. Wegener served as a deacon and elder of Bear Valley Christian Church in Lakewood, Colo. Their great passion for ministry became the focal point of their retirement years. Mr. Wegener was a man of great love for his family, his church, his community and his world. He was always right there to make the world a better place for others. His philosophy throughout life was: "Life is wonderful if you choose to see it that way." We will dearly miss our precious father, brother, and friend. We express our deepest gratitude to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the love that enables all life, both now and for all eternity. Mr. Wegener was preceded in death by his wife, Arline, and two brothers-in-law, Glenn Broadstone and Lloyd LeGrand. He is survived by his children, Debbie, Lakewood, Colo., Neal, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; three sisters, Wilma Broadstone, Oklahoma City, Okla., Margie Bockhorst and husband Billy, Warrenton, and Doris LeGrand, Wright City; other relatives and many friends. Services were held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Denver, Colo. Scott E. Duncan 1970-2009 Scott E. Duncan, 39, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., formerly of Washington, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. where he lived for the last 21 years and had a successful business in the southern California area. Mr. Duncan was born Sept. 20, 1970, the son of Dennis Duncan and wife Connie. Prior to moving to California, he was a graduate of Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo. Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Emmet Ming, and grandparents, Leon and Rosmond Duncan. He is survived by two daughters, Christine Duncan and Sophia Duncan, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; his parents, Dennis and Connie Duncan, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; his grandmother, Irene Ming, Union; one brother, Marshall Duncan and wife Lora, and nephew, Tyler Duncan and niece, Alexandrea Duncan, all of Marthasville; one sister, Denise Grubbs and husband Jeff, and nephew Chip Grubbs, all of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. with family visitation from 1:30-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Washington. Burial will be private. Edward H. Bauer 1926-2009 Edward Henry Bauer, 83, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at his home. Mr. Bauer was born June 11, 1926, in Millwood, the son of Frank G. Bauer and wife Mary, nee Forst. On July 14, 1951, in Troy, he was united in marriage to Jennie Lee Jackson. To this union six children were born, Edward, Cheri, Peggy, Patti, Todd and Jennifer. They were married 58 years. Mr. Bauer served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 2180 in Warrenton. He was a station agent for the Wabash Railroad Company in Truesdale for many years. He was also a supervisor at Permaneer. Mr. Bauer was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus Council 2341 in Warrenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bernard, Robert and Anthony, and three sisters, Sister Frances De Sales, Catherine Scholte and Theresa Bauer. Mr. Bauer is survived by his wife, Jennie, Warrenton; six children, Edward Bauer, Bloomington, Ill., Cheri Bauer, Troy, Peggy Schwerdt and husband, Denneth, Warrenton, Patti Kertz-Greer and husband Jack, Mackinaw, Ill., Todd Bauer and wife Suzanne, Warrenton, and Jennifer Schipper and husband, Chris, Warrenton; one brother, Francis Bauer and wife Edith, Millwood; two sisters, Georgia Bauer, Millwood, and Sister Josepha Bauer, C.PP.S., O'Fallon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Mr. Bauer's body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine. His memory was honored with a private memorial service for his family. On Nov. 27, the family held a "Glad You Got to See Me" party for Mr. Bauer at the Lions Club in Warrenton. Memorials to Marfan Syndrome Clinic or J.D.R.F. in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Sarie Blanche Lawrence-Dickerson, nee Wagner, 73, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab, Jonesburg. Mrs. Lawrence-Dickerson donated her remains to Washington University School of Science and Medicine, St. Louis. She is survived by one son, Steven M. Lawrence; one daughter, Patricia Sarie Hill; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Harding Funeral Home, Jonesburg. Funeral services for Janet Kay Tittel, 58, Warrenton, were held Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Mrs. Tittel died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Tittel; two sons, Denny Tittel and Darren Tittel; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. A family gathering to celebrate the life of Bryan L. Wilburn was held Tuesday, Dec. 22. Mr. Wilburn died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009. He is survived by his wife Cheryll; one son, Curtis (Beth) Wilburn; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Funeral services for Audrey Marie Smith, 91, Union, were held Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Lichtenberg-Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville. Burial was private. Mrs. Smith died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Cedercrest Manor, Washington. She is survived by one son, Dennis Smith and wife Claire; two daughters, Beverly Riley and husband Ken, and Marilyn Kapic and husband Bob; other relatives and many friends. The family was served by Lichtenberg-Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville.
