After a historic season, numerous Warrenton football players earned postseason awards. The Warriors posted a 12-1 record and reached the Class 4 state semifinal game.
Senior Austin Haas earned GAC North Player of the Year for the second year in a row and first team running back. In addition, Haas received all-district honors and first team all-state. Haas ended his final football season with 32 touchdowns and 2,704 total yards (2,471 rushing and 233 receiving).
Head Coach Jason Koper was named the back-to-back conference Coach of the Year. Koper led his team to 18 consecutive regular season wins, a district championship title and a Class 4 state semifinal game.
Offensive linemen Logan Nichols, Jack Morris, Kyle Lauck and Marcus Greene all earned first team all-conference honors, while offensive lineman Alex Wilson earned second-team honors. Greene, Nichols, Wilson, and Morris all received additional all-district honors.
Defensive linemen Javon Jones and Treyvian Guthrie each received a conference first-team nod and district honors, while Taylor Anderson earned second-team conference honors.
Morris and Jones’ accolades did not stop there and both were named second team all-state.
Senior linebacker Kadin Stroer racked up the awards all well, earning first team all-conference, a district nod and second team all-state. Stroer led the Warriors in tackles with 140. He also recorded seven sacks and one interception.
Senior linebacker Cole Meyer earned second-team conference recognition. Meyer ended the season with 93 total tackles, seven sacks and one interception.
Senior Brandon Johnson received two conference awards. The senior earned first team defensive back and second-team quarterback. Johnson also earned a district nod. On defense, Johnson recorded 54 tackles and one interception. On the other side of the ball, the first-year quarterback threw for 16 touchdowns and ran for 11.
Defensive back Peyton Dawson was also named to the conference first team and received district honors. Dawson had 48 tackles and one interception.
Senior Austin White earned second team conference defensive back. White led the team with four interceptions. He recorded 22 tackles.
Wide receiver Mason Thompson earned a second team all-conference and district nod. Thompson led the team in touchdown receptions with six and 646 receiving yards.
Senior Chance Klasing earned the conference sportsmanship award.
In addition, Haas, Dawson, Stroer, Meyer, Klasing, Wilson, Morris, Guthrie, Evan Schenck, Tyler Faerber, Joseph McNeely, Jake Kinney, Ty Cook, Carter Tittel, Deadrick Forrest, Cooper Cornell and Keegan Mellegaard were all named to the conference all-academic team.
Mellegaard, Morris, Forrest, Stroer, Klasing, Faerber, Guthrie, Schenck, Haas and Wilson earned academic all-state.
