A Warrenton woman is charged with child endangerment after police say she forgot her child inside a vehicle parked at Walmart.Emily K. Bass, 23, was arrested June 16 for the felony charge. Police were called to the Walmart in Warrenton around 4:45 p.m. that day for a report of an infant locked in an unoccupied vehicle, according to an arrest report.Police reportedly saw a 2-month-old child inside a car with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off. The child was buckled in a car seat and was not in direct sunlight, but it was a sunny day and 86 degrees outside, police said. While police were preparing to force entry into the vehicle, Bass came out of Walmart and unlocked the vehicle. The infant’s health was checked by a police officer and later by medical personnel, police said.Bass allegedly told police that she had taken her child to the store but forgot the infant in the car, and only realized it when she was in the checkout line.Police said the child was alone in the vehicle for at least 17 minutes between the original 911 call and the time Bass came out of the store.Bass was taken to jail, and was later released on a $5,000 surety bond. She had an initial hearing set for June 26 in Warren County Circuit Court.Arrest
