Seven companies are seeking state approval to establish medical marijuana businesses in Warren County, according to data released by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).State officials are considering the applications after voters legalized medical cannabis in 2018. Several of the entities seeking to do business in Warren County submitted applications for multiple facilities, for purposes such as cultivation, manufacturing, and dispensing products. The state has received a total of 15 applications for locations in Warren County. It’s uncertain how many of the applications will be approved, if any. The state is required by the law to approve at least 60 commercial growers, 86 facilities that manufacture marijuana-infused products and 192 dispensary licenses — 24 dispensaries for each of the state’s congressional districts. Companies that wish to transport or test marijuana products must also apply for licenses.More than 2,100 total applications were submitted statewide in August, according to DHSS.If any applications are approved by the state, those businesses would still have to receive local approval through the planning and zoning process of whatever area the facility is in. Local governments can’t issue a blanket ban on medical marijuana businesses, but do have power to control how and where they operate.ApplicantsMost of the medical marijuana facility applications are concentrated in Warrenton and Truesdale.A company called Green Wellness Releaf Inc. applied for cultivation and manufacturing facilities in Truesdale and a dispensary in Warrenton. The company is also seeking a license to transport goods between its facilities. The address for Green Wellness’ cultivation and product manufacturing applications is in the industrial park in Truesdale on South Spoede Lane. Meanwhile, the intended location for the Green Wellness Releaf dispensary is at 112 S. East St. in downtown Warrenton. As previously reported in The Record, Green Wellness Releaf is owned by Innsbrook residents Tracy Livingston and Ruthie Jayne.A business called Generations LLC is seeking licenses to cultivate and manufacture medical marijuana at a site on the Northwest Service Road in Warrenton. Two businesses applied for only dispensaries in one of Warrenton’s busiest commercial areas. New Growth Horizon LLC wants to dispense medical marijuana from the former Hardee’s building at 711 N. Highway 47. Across the street, QPS Missouri Holdings LLC applied to operate a dispensary in the former BP gas station building at 714 N. Highway 47.In Truesdale, a company registered under several variations of the name “Show Me Premium Medical Cannabis” applied for cultivation, manufacturing and dispensing at 1302 E. Veterans Memorial Parkway.Outside of the Warrenton/Truesdale area, two other entities have applied for facility licenses.A company called GF Wright City identified a site at 14980 Veterans Memorial Parkway as its intended location for a medical marijuana dispensary.Only one entity, Cella Green LLC, applied for a license in the southern area of the county. The business is seeking to cultivate medical marijuana at a location on Highway N, near Holstein.Other areasJust outside Warren County, towns in the surrounding areas have received their share of interest as the location of medical marijuana facilities. There have been 33 applications for dispensary, manufacturing and cultivation sites throughout Franklin County, including six within the city of Washington.Four applications were received for cultivation and manufacturing facilities in the Jonesburg area. That includes one application from BeLeaf Medical LLC, which previously had signaled intent to apply for growing and manufacturing facilities in Warrenton. However, such locations were not listed in the state’s most recent data for facility applications. The DHSS list also includes four companies seeking to establish dispensaries or manufacturing in the Wentzville area.Marijuana
