The city of Marthasville no longer has its own police department.According to a letter presented to former police Chief Eugene Jenkins, the city's board of aldermen approved the elimination of the Marthasville Police Department Friday, May 19. The letter from Mayor David Lange to Jenkins was dated Sunday, May 21.Without a police department, city residents will rely on the Warren County Sheriff's Department. The letter states the entire department has been eliminated, meaning Jenkins' employment with the city has ended. Jenkins was instructed to turn over all city property and any keys in his possession. Jenkins was the only police officer on staff. The other officer had left the department earlier this year. For more information on this story, see the May 25 edition of The Warren County Record.

Marthasville Police Chief Eugene Jenkins stands by the department's 2014 Chevy Tahoe purchased from fines collected following a federal immigration seizure that the department aided several years ago.
