Wright City is moving forward with the second phase of a study to evaluate its sewer system. An ordinance finalizing the contract between the city and Kuhlmann Design Group was unanimously approved by aldermen at their meeting April 14. The study will cost $53,900. The study will focus on compiling information for mapping all of the city’s manholes. Engineers will have 180 days to complete the study, according to the contract.“This will help us get maps made and help us know where everything is at,” said Karen Girondo, Wright City economic development director/treasurer. “With the new growth, we are working with lines that were put in 1939 up until today. Things get lost. We haven’t had a thorough mapping done. We had a part of one in the 2000s, when they did an upgrade to the sewer system, but we never had an extensive one.”The scope of services to be provided by engineers will include gathering existing or non-visible manhole locations by using either GPS or conventional surveying equipment; surveying the area north of Peruque Creek, east of Roelker Road and east of Bell Road; and detail the type, size and direction of flow for each pipe entering a manhole.Kuhlmann Design Group is in the process of wrapping up the first phase of the study that focused on the city’s facility plan. That study will be forwarded to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for its review. That phase cost $62,500. Wright City was awarded a $50,000 grant from DNR to cover a large portion of the expense.Wright City
