A 24-year-old Warrenton man is behind bars on charges that he stole a handgun.Jason “Crow” Kincaid, 24, remains in the Warren County Jail on a $20,000 bond. He is accused of stealing a gun from a friend May 31.According to a report by Warrenton Officer Rich Black, the investigation leading to Kincaid’s arrest began after police received a call from Rashad Cohns, reporting he was in possession of a stolen firearm.Cohns said he received the gun from his neighbor, who at the time he only knew by the name “Crow.” Cohns said Kincaid stopped by his home May 29 with the handgun and told him he could not keep the handgun because of his felony record. Cohns agreed to buy the gun, but told Kincaid he intended to pay him later. The owner of the handgun, Forest Henry, reported his Taurus semi-automatic handgun stolen the day after Kincaid sold a gun to Cohns, police said. Forest said Kincaid was the last person in his home before the gun went missing. When shown photos of the weapon sold to Cohns, Forest identified it as his, according to police.During a follow-up interview July 7, Kincaid allegedly admitted to stealing the firearm. Kincaid is charged with theft of a firearm, a Class B felony which has a sentencing range of five to 15 years in prison, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years.Crime
