Update: Blanton was arrested and taken to the Warren County Jail on Feb. 10. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only, and his arraignment was scheduled for Feb. 15 at the county courthouse.
Child molestation charges have been issued against Adrian A. Blanton of Wright City.
The young victim told her mother that Blanton, 60, had rubbed his “private” against her while both were fully clothed, according to a police report. The victim’s mother then contacted police on Jan. 29 about the incident, which she reported had taken place sometime in 2016.
The molestation occurred at Blanton’s residence on the 400 block of South Third Street in Wright City, according to the report.
During an interview with Wright City police, Blanton allegedly admitted to rubbing himself against the girl for less than a minute. He reportedly stated that his action felt sick, and that he didn’t take it further because he didn’t want to go to jail.
Blanton faces a felony first degree child molestation charge and a $50,000, cash-only bond once arrested.
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated police interviewed Blanton in November. The incident was reported Jan. 29.
