A Warrenton man is facing a felony assault charge after a victim told police he attacked her at his home.Gregory P. Trapp, 31, is charged with second-degree domestic assault for the alleged attack reported at his home on the 2400 block of Balboa Circle in Warrenton on Thursday, Sept. 7.Police were alerted to a possible disturbance in the area because of an “open line” call — a phone was dialed to 911 but the dispatcher who answered received no response from the caller. The dispatcher could hear a male and female yelling in the background, according to police. After checking several residences for disturbances, Warrenton police were met at Trapp’s residence by a woman who alleged that Trapp had attacked her because of a scratch on his new toolbox, according to police. The woman reportedly said that over the last 24 hours, Trapp had choked her, struck her and allegedly threatened to kill her multiple times.Police observed scratches and bruising on the victim’s face, neck, arm, shoulder and leg.The domestic assault charge against Trapp is a Class D felony with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, if he is convicted. His arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Warren County Circuit Court. Trapp is free on a $5,000 bond, with the condition that he has no contact with the victim.Trapp already was facing a misdemeanor domestic assault charge for an alleged incident that took place in 2015 in Wright City. The same victim as in this newest case reported to Wright City police in October 2015 that Trapp had struck her at a residence on Hickory Trails Drive in Wright City and damaged her vehicle when she attempted to leave. She also alleged that Trapp intentionally released her dog into a field because she did not return home when he told her to.Charges for those allegations were filed almost a year later in September 2016, according to online court records. Trapp is charged with third-degree domestic assault, second-degree property damage and intentionally releasing an animal, all misdemeanors.Since the misdemeanor case was taken to court, it has been stuck in a series of hearings and continuances. His next hearing for the case is Sept. 27.Gregory Trapp
