To The Editor:We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who reached out to our family with prayers and support over the past week. The events of the week are something we wish no one would have to endure. With the sudden death of our son, Chad Lewis, we have witnessed so many kind acts from many different people, organizations, students, teachers and family members. It is difficult for us to put into words how well a community, school district and county have come together.Chad was a senior at Wright City High School where he knew what he wanted to do in life once he graduated. Welding was his passion, baseball was his life and sitting in the woods hunting brought him much joy.He was a simple quiet child that made goals for himself, whether it was becoming a better ballplayer or committing his time to improving his welding skills. One student from his welding class told me a story the day before Thanksgiving. The students came in for a snack the teacher had brought in and were told they could take the rest of the class off. Chad came in with the class, had two crackers and went back to the welding booth for the remainder of the time while other students enjoyed leisure time. The student shared with me how Chad’s work ethic had been an inspiration to him. It’s difficult to understand why God would want him so soon, but as we try to grasp the situation, maybe God needed him to maintain the Heavens, where so many good people have passed before.Let’s remind ourselves that, “Heaven is a home for all of us. We are just passing through, and on that trail sometimes the young go a little sooner than expected.”To the senior class at Wright City High School, your No. 13 outfielder will be with you forever in spirit. Enjoy your senior year and remember the good times you’ve shared together. May God bless each and every one of you.To the many family friends, your prayers and blessings have been a major part of the healing process to a hurt that will never be completely healed. To the Wright City School District, Wright City Fire Protection District, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Warren County Ambulance District, thank you all so much for the support you have shown the family. On behalf of myself, “bonus mom” Cindy, Chad’s mother, Linda, and “bonus dad” Pat, thank you all so much for every act of kindness you have displayed.Randy Lewis,Wright City
