Not much has slowed down the Liberty Christian girls basketball team so far this season.
On Monday night, the Eagles won their 11th straight game to open the season, a 72-20 triumph over Fulton (St. Albans) at home. Junior Anna Meyer and sophomore Sophi Mueller each had 11 points to lead the way. Senior Andrea Mueller and junior Allie Meyer followed with nine apiece and senior Gracie Foran and senior Adison Roden each had eight points. As a team, Liberty Christian made 49% of shots from the field.
The Eagles led 23-0 after the first quarter and 41-3 at halftime.
Last Thursday, they won convincingly 63-16 over Christian Fellowship. Once again, Liberty Christian jumped ahead early, building a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and holding their opponent to five or fewer points in each quarter.
Foran had a team-high 13 points as five players reached double figures. She also had a team-best 10 rebounds. Roden chipped in with 13, followed by Lauren Moss with 11 and Andrea Mueller and Alli Meyer with 10 apiece.
The Liberty Christian boys basketball team has put together a three-game winning streak for the second time this season. The Eagles are coming off a 57-39 road win at Christian Fellowship last Thursday.
They jumped ahead with a strong opening half, leading 20-8 after the opening quarter and 43-15 at intermission.
Cole Christian led the way with 15 points. Zack Dames and Austin Kuehn followed with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Two nights earlier, Liberty Christian won 77-67 over Mississippi Valley Christian.
Deacon Forrest had a team-high 26 points, while Christian followed with 22. Dames added 10 points, with Caleb Schneider and Jack Duval contributing eight and seven points, respectively.
