LCA girls open the season perfect through six games

There has been no slowing down the Liberty Christian girls basketball team through its first six games.

The Eagles have jumped out to a 6-0 start, topping Principia 64-36 on the road Tuesday and Clopton 71-44 on Monday.

Liberty Christian’s other victories have come against Providence Classical Christian Academy (77-11), Heritage Classical Christian Academy (60-3), Eagle Ridge Christian (47-16) and St. Louis Christian Homeschool (53-39).

In Monday’s win at Clopton, the Eagles jumped ahead 46-18 in the first two quarters and cruised from there. Alli Meyer had a game-high 24 points as she made 11 of 16 shots from the field. Sophi Mueller followed with 13 points, while Andrea Mueller and Adison Roden each contributed 10 points. Roden also pulled down a team-best 10 boards.

LCA boys win three of first four

Following a season-opening setback, the Liberty Christian boys basketball team has reeled off three straight wins.

The Eagles knocked off Providence Classical Christian Academy 84-49 on Friday. Cole Christian had a huge game, scoring 27 points to lead four players in double figures. Zack Dames, Jack Duval and Caleb Schneider all had 12 points apiece.

Liberty Christian’s other wins this season came against Heritage Classical Christian Academy (68-52), and Eagle Ridge Christian (42-34). The Eagles’ lone loss came against St. Louis Christian Homeschool (80-47).

Warrenton 56, Wright City 49

In the season opener for both teams Nov. 19, the host Warriors used a 15-10 run in the third quarter to take control.

The game was tied at 26-26 at halftime. Warrenton outscored the Wildcats 30-23 in the second half.

Hayden Beck led Wright City with 13 points. Trey Brakensiek, Kyle Johnson and Carleon Jones had seven points apiece.
No stats were available for Warrenton.
