Lamb running for judge

Jason Lamb announces that he will seek the Republican nomination for circuit judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit, comprised of Audrain, Montgomery and Warren counties.

Lamb currently serves as the executive director of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, and formerly served as the Audrain County prosecuting attorney.

“When we choose people to be our judges we expect certain things from them,” said Lamb. “We expect that they will make decisions based on the evidence and the law, and that they will treat all people as equals under the law.

“We have to maintain public trust in our justice system and make sure everyone knows that there won’t be special treatment and people will be treated fairly.  We are divided on so many issues today, we must find unity under the rule of law.  But, in order to do that, we need judges who value integrity, and whose actions promote faith and confidence in the justice system.”

Lamb began practicing law in his hometown of Mexico, Mo., nearly 20 years ago, with a local firm where he handled a variety of legal matters. He was twice elected to serve as Audrain County prosecuting attorney. During that time, he was twice named Prosecutor of the Year by both the state Arson Investigators Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

“My philosophy was simple then, and it still is today,” Lamb explained. “Always do the right thing; be tough, but fair; and stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.”

He has championed causes that have led to significant legislative achievements, including modernizing Missouri’s Criminal Code, and strengthening the laws that protect victims of child abuse.

“It’s been my honor to serve the entire state – from local courthouses to the halls of government in Jefferson City – to improve the criminal justice system and protect crime victims’ rights,” Lamb said.

The Republican primary will be held in August 2018.

Lamb is a graduate of Tulane University School of Law and the University of Missouri. He lives in Mexico with his wife and sons.
