The Warrenton Lady Warriors registered six wins in seven contested matches in their final tune-up for this week’s district tournament.

Allison Vacek led the Lady Warriors with three match wins to help the Lady Warriors earn wins in four of the five duals. Emily Beumel also went undefeated on the day. She went 2-0 in her two contested matches. Madisen Nash won one of her two contested matches.

“The girls are really fighting hard and they’re going out there and giving it their best every single time and not giving up,” Warrenton girls wrestling coach Michaela Denny said. “They are going into the match with a mindset that they’re not going to lose and that’s what I want them to do.”

All three varsity wrestlers earned wins over North Point. Beumel and Vacek both earned wins by fall. Beumel pinned Katharine Tyson in 48 seconds. Vacek pinned Ava Arrezzio in 1:39. Nash beat Caroline Frank on a 5-1 decision.

Beumel and Vacek also earned wins by fall against St. Charles West to help the Lady Warriors to a 12-3 win. Beumel pinned Payton Hammack in 46 seconds. Vacek pinned Dani Lovell at the end of the second period at the 3:59 mark.

Warrenton beat St. Charles 18-0. Vacek pinned Caitlyn McCoy in 1:21 in the only contested match in the dual.

Warrenton earned an 18-0 team win over Orchard Farm and an 18-12 team win over Winfield. There were no contested matches in the two duals.

Denny stressed the growth all three wrestlers have shown over the course of the season. Beumel and Vacek are in their first year wrestling.

“I’m proud of each and every one of them because they’ve come really far in this season already just working to get where they are now,” Denny said.

The three Warrenton wrestlers are slated to compete in the Class 1, District 2 tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday at North Point High School. Denny is excited to see how the Lady Warriors perform at districts.

“I want them to keep working as hard as they can,” Denny said. “Even if they’ve already wrestled the girl before. They’re really fired up and pumped and I’m really excited to see them do their best.”
