The Warrenton Lady Warriors used a strong fifth inning to beat Holt Tuesday and advance to the district semifinals.
Warrenton beat Holt 7-3 in the first round of the Class 4, District 4 tournament.
After Holt scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, Warrenton scored four runs with two outs to take a 6-2 lead into the sixth inning. Junior Maddisyn Hoelscher hit an RBI single to give Warrenton a 3-2 lead. After Rose Renshaw's RBI walk, freshman Caydynce Haverfield hit a single scoring two runs to give Warrenton the 6-2 lead.
Warrenton tacked on a run in the sixth inning to lead 7-2.
Kylie Witthaus earned the win for Warrenton. She pitched all seven innings for the Lady Warriors.
Warrenton is slated to play the winner of Ft. Zumwalt East and St. Charles in the district semifinal Thursday. The game will be played at 2 p.m. at Ft. Zumwalt East High School.
