State Rep. Bart Korman, R-High Hill, is pleased to announce that his office is accepting applications for legislative interns for the 2016 session.The internship is open to applicants enrolled in college with an interest in state government and policy.Legislative intern responsibilities in Korman’s office may include:• Investigating constituent concerns and issues for possible resolutions• Researching proposed legislation• Attending and recording highlights of committees and meetings as required• Assisting with other legislative dutiesKorman added, “As a Republican legislator in my third term with the Missouri House of Representatives, I currently chair the Telecommunications committee, as well as serve on a number of others. My areas of interest include defending our gun rights, protecting the unborn and improving our state’s infrastructure.”Korman represents Montgomery County, most of Warren and the southern tip of St. Charles counties. He said he would prefer an individual from one of those counties, however, upon an interview anyone may be accepted.Office hours available are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.“I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who are interested in the legislative process,” said Korman. “The internship is a great way to earn valuable experience. Not only do you become familiar with the roles and tasks associated with Missouri government, it is a great way to serve constituents and become familiar with a state representative’s role.
