Timothy Joyce has filed as a Republican candidate for the office of circuit judge for the 12th Circuit.Joyce has been an attorney for more than 38 years.“I’ve served the people of the 12th Circuit as the Warren County prosecutor for more than nine years, then worked 27 years as a defense attorney. I’ll bring insight and balance to the criminal side of the circuit judge position.” Joyce said.“I feel that my decades of experience as a private attorney and prosecutor and my extensive work in domestic litigation, and probate and juvenile court, make me the candidate best prepared to dispense impartial decisions on the various legal issues that come before a circuit judge,” Joyce said.Joyce began his career as a federal attorney in Kansas City before being appointed by then Gov. Kit Bond to the position of Warren County prosecuting attorney. He held that office until January 1991 when he entered private practice.Joyce’s daughter, Kathleen Joyce Gorman, joined his practice in September 2015 when they renamed the practice, The Tim Joyce Law Firm.Joyce said he intends to turn his private practice over to his daughter.“I’m confident she will continue my legacy and provide excellent legal services to the clients I’ve been serving for so many years,” he said.Originally from Edina, Joyce graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville before earning his law degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.As a member of the Warren County community since 1981, Joyce has served on numerous committees and served many community organizations. He served as Truesdale city attorney for more than 37 years.Joyce is an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He has been married to Cheri Joyce for almost 30 years. They have two children, Kathleen Joyce Gorman (Charles) and Kevin Joyce.
