A thousand-foot stretch of Highway MM at Veterans Memorial Parkway will close for construction beginning May 14.As part of construction of the new Interstate 70 western interchange in Warrenton, the intersection of Veterans Memorial and Highway MM will be rebuilt.MM will be closed north of Lakeview Estates Drive for an estimated six weeks, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Those who live on Lakeview Estates Drive will have to go east on Highway MM into Downtown Warrenton to detour around the closure.During the closure, crews will build a new roundabout intersection for Highway MM and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The intersection will reopen as soon as construction is finished, said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga.A large section of Veterans Memorial west of Highway MM has been closed since last September for the construction of new interstate ramps and an overpass connecting the north and south outer roads. That section of the road will remain closed until near the end of June, Maninga added. There will be two more roundabout intersections at either end of the overpass.Traffic lanes of I-70 will remain reduced width through the overpass construction zone.Construction on the new interchange began in September 2017 and is expected to be complete by early 2019, according to MoDOT.Emery Sapp & Sons was awarded the contract for $8.5 million and the project was fully funded by the city of Warrenton through sales taxes approved by voters in 2016.MoDOT will own and maintain the new interchange once construction is finished.Road Closed
