The American flag — a symbol of liberty, comfort and unity.The Warrenton Elks Lodge 2662 hosted a Flag Day ceremony June 14 with the Marine Corps League Richard Scott Haymes Detachment #1393.The event started with a presentation that included the history of the flag and how it evolved from before the American Revolution to what it is today. Nine flags were part of the presentation. As members of the Marine Corps League carried them, their history and symbolism were explained.In the final flag display, Tom Watts of Wright City carried today’s flag and Dick Bienvenu of New Melle carried the POW flag. Veterans saluted.
