The Wright City softball team had five players earn postseason awards. Senior catcher Paige Rees was named to the Eastern Missouri Conference first team, Class 3, District 3 first team, Class 3 first team all-region and Class 3 first team all-state. Rees ended her senior season with a .477 batting average, 42 hits and 41 runs. Rees ended her high school career with 140 hits.
Freshman utility player Lorelai Kellner was named to the all-district first team, all-region first team and all-state second team. As a varsity newcomer, Kellner made her debut with a .542 batting average, 20 runs and 108 batters struck out in just 13 games.
Junior infielder Sadie Sehnert was named EMO second team, all-district first team and all-region first team. Sehnert ended with a .511 batting average and 31 runs.
In addition, seniors Sophia We- grzyn and Lydia Clubb earned district honors. Wegrzyn was named to the second team as an infielder and Clubb received first-team at large.
Wegryzn led the team in home runs with seven. She also had 19 runs and reached 115 career hits. Clubb, who was injured for part of the season, had a .457 batting average, 16 hits and 17 runs in 12 games.
In addition to postseason awards, nine new school records were set. Kellner broke the school record for strikeouts in a game at 19. Rees set a new record for walks in a season at 22 and career doubles with 44.
Clubb broke the remaining six. The senior broke school records with 154 career hits, 25 career home runs, 114 career runs batted, 19 career triples, a .614 career on base percentage and a .563 career batting average percentage.
The players were not the only ones to reach new heights as Head Coach Fred Ross reached his 250th career win this season.
